Randy Ford loves implied detail by brushing chunky textured paint strokes in a way that allows the viewer to participate by imagining so much more than his brush ever said, allowing each person to see them uniquely.  The goal in oil painting is to capture the light and the vivid color of the scene, especially during early dawn and sunset when the drama is greatest.  He is especially keen to paint from his own images of the desert and mountain West, but especially loves painting landscapes from photos that other people share.
